Count calories. My sister-in-law counts points through Weight Watchers. Don't over indulge in things you know that are unhealthy. I try to stick with this diet Mon-Fri, eat anything I want on Saturday - you have to, to keep yourself sane :), then eat healthy Sunday for breakfast and lunch and have whatever I want on Sunday. I found this to work for me. I also try to do an activity (cardio) once a week (I know it's not enough of a work out regiment, but it's something). I never knew Lean Cuisines were yummy... you just have to get used to the portion size.

Just keep balance! You can splurge sometimes if you generally keep a healthy diet!

A healthy diet is one that is balanced and nutrient dense. So you're eating a balanced amount of carbs, veges, proteins and calcium (which is individual). And of those foods you're eating vitamin and mineral rich foods - whole wheats, fresh fruits and veges, fresh meats and enough calcium rich foods. Eat foods that are most closely to how they came out of the earth - fresh and just prepared. Not frozen, processed, fast food or factory made. So bad - bisquick pancakes, McDonalds hamburger, french fries, soda, chips, candy, frozen tv dinners. Good - cheerios with a banana, skim milk or soy milk, salad, yogurt, apple, almonds, carrots, grilled chicken with spinach. Don't forget to drink your water!
