You know, my mother pushed me to go to summer camp when I really, REALLY didn't want to go. It was probably the best thing she ever did for me. Parents push their children to do things they are afraid of to prepare them for things they will potentially deal with later in life, and also to broaden their horizons and make more opportunities available to them.

Because some kids are just wusses so you have to push them to show them they like it. If not this then some parents are just mean mean people.

I think the parents do this more for themselves then they do for the children in my opinion. They want to see their children do the things that they didn't achieve when they were younger. In other words they are attempting to relive their childhood them.
